Dear Park’s Edge Preschool’s Families:
What a busy month October has been! Thank you to the many families that attended PEP’s Family Harvest Fest. We had a magical time at the Harvest Fest with Mr. Rick Allen! November is going to be as wonderful… we get to count all the blessings we are thankful for! This time of year, we are formally requesting a validation visit from the Association for Early Learning Leaders to maintain NAC Accreditation. PEP will celebrate a decade of NAC Accreditation in February 2020. An unannounced validation visit will be scheduled sometime within the first two weeks next November.
To the many frazzled families, please be sure to sign up and enjoy the home-made Lasagna-to-go on Wednesday, November 13th. In this hectic world who isn’t going to appreciate taking home a home-cooked meal? Included in each meal-to-go is a family prayer. Emanuel Church’s intention is to treat Park’s Edge Preschool families to quality time with a warm meal. Thanks again to Emanuel Church’s volunteers and the ‘good news’ group who are serving this treat again! Please sign-up at the front office desk so you do not miss out by Wednesday, November 6th, 2019.
‘Food is love’ and we have a lot to go around at the Park’s Edge Preschool. Thank you to the many families at the Park’s Edge Preschool that collected non-perishable food items for the CROP Walk and this year’s campaign theme, ‘Love of Neighbor’. CROP is the acronym for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty and it is one of the many opportunities to demonstrate to the children Christian values. Three hundred and twenty-three pounds of collected foods were donated to Milwaukee’s Hunger Task Force/ CROP Walk. PEP’s next food collection will be for ‘Jesus’ Birthday Celebration’ on Thursday, December 12th.
Here’s a great gift idea— LifeTouch photographers here Thursday, November 14th from 7-11 am. The photographer(s) will be photographing children (siblings together and separate) with a holiday background and regular background for parents to choose from. Photographs are available before the Christmas season.
Effective communication is so important for your child’s growth and development. November is the time of year for evaluations. Center evaluations, classroom evaluations, and children’s evaluations are on the horizon. Park’s Edge Preschool bi-annually offers formal conferences in November and May. Conference Night will be held Thursday, November 21st from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. All parents of children in our program are encouraged to come. Make an appointment on the ‘Conference Sign-up Sheet’ posted in your child’s classroom. You will have an opportunity to see his/her portfolio while you are waiting to confer with your child’s teacher. Also be sure to take the time to fill out the NAC Evaluation Survey about Park’s Edge Preschool. We value your feedback—it’s important to our program’s growth and development too!
Holiday reminder—PEP is closed Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Holiday Charges will be applied to Thanksgiving Day.
Save these important dates too: Thursday, December 5th from 6:30-8 pm—Center-wide Family Christmas Party with Santa Claus and Thursday, December 12th from 4-5 pm— Jesus’ Birthday Celebration. Park’s Edge Preschool is closed Tuesday, December 24th, Friday, December 25th, and Wednesday, January 1st. Holiday charges are applied to tuition express. Details for future events will be in PEP’s December Newsletter.
We do have a lot to be thankful for at the Park’s Edge Preschool; Happy, healthy children are true gifts from God!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Ellen M. Kvalheim
