Dear Park’s Edge Preschool Families:
September has been an exciting month with the kick-off of the school year. PEP’s Annual Progressive Dinner-Open House and Grandparent’s Day were a success and made the last days of summer fly by.
Tick tock…October is already upon us…Milwaukee’s 2019 CROP Walk has always been celebrated this time of year. CROP is the acronym for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. The annual event is an opportunity for the Park’s Edge Preschool community, to help overcome hunger…one non-perishable food at a time. Park’s Edge Preschool families have donated non-perishable foods to the Milwaukee Hunger Task Force in recognition of the annual Crop Walk for over a decade. This year’s campaign will be labeled ‘Love thy neighbor’ in helping others by collecting food. Please help us fill the food drive box. Your child will bring home a brown paper bag, uniquely decorated for a non-perishable food item for the food drive with details of the ‘Love thy neighbor’ campaign. Please drop the non-perishable food items in the box at the church entrance by Friday, October 11th. Thank you!
Thursday October 24th and Friday, October 25th, the Whitnall School District has ‘no school’.
PEP has some Halloween fun planned…Thursday, October 24th, a field trip to the Hales Corners Care Center for‘Trick or Treat’ fun in the community is in the works. The Fantastic Frogs, Shining Stars and Slithering Snakes will be participating from 10-11am. Please send their labeled costume for trick or treat fun at the care center. Watch for details and a permission form in your family mailbox about this annual event.
Friday,October25 ,a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch at Lindner’s Family Farm, is being planned for the children in the Fantastic Frogs, Shining Stars and Slithering Snakes. Cost $8.00 includes hayride, corn maze, harvest games and pumpkin. Watch your mailbox for details and permission slip. Your child will need a pillowcase for their take home pumpkin and a bag lunch. All chaperones need a current background check completed and on file.
Thursday, October 24th is Park’s Edge Preschool’s Family Harvest Fest from 5:30 to 7:00pm. Park’s Edge Preschool’s families, grandparents and siblings are welcome too. We will come together for an evening of fall fun…a costume parade, scavenger hunt and a magic show featuring Mr. Rick Allen. Chili, cornbread and brownies will be served to warm the little goblins bellies. Each family will be asked to bring a carved/ decorated pumpkin for display and non-perishable food items to donate in wrapping up our ‘Love thy Neighbor’ campaign. Food donations will be donated to the Milwaukee Hunger Task Force.
Be sure to dress your child in child-friendly costumes for PEP’s costume parade! Parents are encouraged to dress-up too! Please R.S.V.P. at the PEP Office front desk or call (414) 427-9561 by Wednesday, October 23rd. Thanks! Thursday, October 31 is PEP’s All-center Halloween Costume Parade held on-site, rain or shine, at 10 am. Come watch or participate in the parade. It is a great way to celebrate Halloween through the eyes of a child!
Food…wonderful food! The ‘Good News Group’ from Emanuel Church is showing ‘Frazzled Families’ love and support by serving ‘Lasagna Dinner-to-go’. The whole concept behind the ‘Frazzled Family Dinner’ was originally started to promote family time and spiritual growth. Included in each meal is a prayer and parent/child interactive conversation card. Park’s Edge Preschool Families are eligible to pick-up ‘lasagna-to go’ Wednesday, November 13 between 4-6 pm. Be sure to reserve your family dinner by Wednesday, November 6th. Did I say, ‘FREE’ Lasagna-Dinner-To-Go for the whole family? YES, I did! Food is love…and blessings too, from Emanuel Church!
Sincerely,
Ellen M. Kvalheim
