Dear Park’s Edge Preschool Families,

“Spring’s greatest joy beyond a doubt is when it brings the children out.” – Edgar Guest

Everyone is excited to be able to get outside more often now that the weather is warming up. With the sun staying out later, we are very fortunate to be able to play longer outside in the afternoon.

Every year, each classroom makes adorable Valentine’s that we divide among Emanuel Church members, Complete Care Senior Living, and Zablocki VA. We heard back from a recipient of one of the cards who said, “I got your Valentine greeting today and I can’t thank you enough. It was so kind, I could cry—but tears of gratitude.” It really made all of us realize the importance of connections and community outreach.

Friday, March 7, is Picture Day and our Professional ½ Day. Pictures will be taken from 7–11 a.m. All children who are entering 5K in the fall will be photographed in their cap and gown. If that is not a regular day of attendance, please have your child here at 11:20 a.m. to be photographed individually and for the group photo. Reminder: The center closes at 12 p.m., and lunch is provided. No p.m. bus transportation is available that afternoon; this includes 4K p.m. as well. We will pick up a.m. 4K students and bring them back to the center for lunch.

Professional Development ½ Day: Did you know that every full-time staff member is required to have 25 hours of continuing education? We have a full afternoon planned for staff. We have WECA (Wisconsin Early Childhood Association) meeting with staff members who are interested in the T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship to achieve their credentials or associate’s degree in early childhood education. Paychex will meet individually with each staff member to talk about their benefit package, as well as their 401(k). While staff members are busy learning, Adelman will be here cleaning all the carpets throughout the building.

Tuesday, March 17, at 10 a.m. is our Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles are welcome. Please dress your little leprechaun in green for the occasion.

Thursday, March 19, is our Spring Fling. The Easter Bunny will be here for pictures in the Narthex. There will be a sign-up sheet the week prior. In Kurth Hall, the fun will continue with a Sock Hop dance party. We have invited DJ Jim Kennedy to come back again this year to provide the entertainment. We will have Easter tattoos and bunny ears for all to enjoy. It is a fun evening to connect with other families and teachers and dance the night away. The fun goes from 5–6:30 p.m.

Ms. Nicole, Mr. Cody, and Ms. Melinda have been working hard to plan another fun summer. We will also be distributing the summer calendar for ages 4 and up on the night of the Spring Fling. We cannot wait to show you all the fun activities we have planned for the summer, and we have some new field trips as well.

Our Summer Enrollment Surveys will be distributed on Monday, March 9. We will ask for them back by Wednesday, March 18. Just a reminder: if you withdraw for the summer, we cannot guarantee enrollment until the first week of September.

We look forward to another fun-filled, busy month at Park’s Edge Preschool.

Sincerely,
Kristin Burr
Director
