Dear Park’s Edge Preschool Families:

We are delighted to welcome so many of our families back this week.  It has been exciting walking through the child care center and seeing their smiling faces and more importantly hearing the buzzing sound of happy children throughout the building.  Thank you for entrusting your children to Park’s Edge Preschool once again.  We are taking every precaution in keeping your children safe and healthy this summer.

If you haven’t noticed, we are currently dividing the groups of children into ratios of 10 or less.  It makes for a very busy environment.  Children are grouped with their chronological peers and may have been advanced to the next classroom due to that reason in keeping them in small groups.  Many of our Busy Bees returned to PEP now old enough to advance to the Sunshine Room on the lower level.  Congratulations!

Timing is everything at PEP…and this time as the children advance to the Sunshine Room, so has one of their teachers, Ms. Mary.  Congratulations to Ms. Mary who has been promoted to the lead teacher position in our Sunshine Room.  May, 2020, Ms. Mary graduated from Bryant & Stratton College with an Early Childhood Associate Degree.  Mary was very busy during the ‘stay at home’ mandate; in addition to receiving her diploma, Mary, her husband Bobby, and 7 year old son R.J. welcomed a baby girl, Anna Marie on March 27th.  Congratulations Mary!

To eliminate daily confusion at afternoon pick-up time for parents, with children on the lower level, we have attached our outdoor daily schedule.  I want to highlight that school-age children grouped in Kurth Hall will be indoors by 4pm every day.  If your child is on the playground when you pick-up, you may drive directly to the backfield to pick them up.  Our goal is to help parents from wandering the building in finding their children at pick-up time.  Please let us know if you will be picking your child up while their group is outside, so we have their belongings to take home outdoors as well.  Drinking water with individual cups and hand sanitizer is available on both playgrounds during outdoor playtime.  All children must be under adult supervision at all times at PEP.  Thank you!  We want this to be a smooth transition for families at the end of the day too…happy trails to you!

PEP has a busy July 4th Holiday Weekend planned because the ‘new’ floor installed in our upstairs infant-toddler classrooms in December didn’t adhere.  It will be removed, shot blasted and a sealant added before installing an entire new floor.  Therefore our infant-toddler rooms will be closed during that time because the entire process will take from July 2nd through July 6 to complete.  We will reopen infant-toddler classrooms on Tuesday, July 7th.

The infant-toddler families that this impacts have already been notified of the classroom closure during this time.  Licensing and NAC has been notified too.  PEP could not do this during the COVID-19 mandate because insurance coverage was still pending.  Again, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.  The classroom closing only affects the infant-toddler classrooms on the upper level.  All lower level classrooms are open on Thursday, July 2nd and Monday, July 6th.

All PEP classrooms are closed on Friday, July 3rd for the July 4th Holiday Weekend is celebrated on Friday, July 3rd.  Holiday charges will be applied if your child’s regular attendance is on Friday.  Please have a safe and happy July 4th Holiday Weekend.

Sincerely,

Ellen M. Kvalheim, Director
