Dear Park’s Edge Preschool Families:

Can it really be May already? I cannot believe April came and went so quickly… and what a fun month we had! Park’s Edge Preschool had a wonderful Week of the Young Child celebration in honoring parents, staff and young children April 16th through the 20th. The WOYC serves as a time to reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every child experience the type of environment that promotes learning…at home, school, and in the community. My hope for the future is that the children in our care today will reflect on a positive early childhood experience and happy memories imprinted by Park’s Edge Preschool’s nurturing staff in a loving Christian learning environment.

Pajama Day wrapped up the WOYC at Park’s Edge Preschool, held on Friday, April 20th. Each child that participated was asked to donate a minimum of $2.00 to the March of Dimes. Pooled together we contributed $107.00 for babies! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Thank you to all the wonderful families that showered the staff with the generous gifts throughout the Week of the Young Child. Monday, April 16th we had a delicious breakfast bar; Tuesday, April 17th a basket of sweet treats and goodies for staff to munch on; Wednesday, April 18th was a yummy lunch buffet from Qdoba; Thursday, April 19th every staff member received a fragrant spring bouquet from Snap Dragon Flower Boutique; and Friday, April 20th, cake and ice cream for all! Danka!

The 2018 WOYC Celebration highlight was the Children’s Talent Show and Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser for PEP’s outdoor classroom(s). I’d like to take this opportunity to thank each one of you that came to the Talent Show and Spaghetti Dinner and want to pay tribute to the many talented children and staff that contributed and/or participated in the Park’s Edge Preschool Talent Show and Spaghetti Dinner held on Thursday, April 19th for helping us raise over $1,000.00! Our 2018 fundraising goal is for a mud kitchen and a few sets of treated wooden blocks able to withstand the Wisconsin weather.

The WOYC also gives reason to honor all the faculty involved with children! The WOYC Celebration includes a special collaboration between Emanuel Church and Park’s Edge Preschool ‘Teacher Appreciation Dinner’. Thank you to the members of the ‘Good News Group’ of Emanuel Church for making special preparations for the staff’s annual celebration. This year’s appreciation dinner event will be in conjunction with a tour of 3 Accredited child care centers in Waukesha County: Wee Know Schools, WCTC Early Childhood Center and Apple Ridge’s Brookfield location sponsored by WCCAA. The special event for PEP staff is Saturday, May 5th…and timely for a Cinco De Mayo celebration. It’s a great way for the staff to feed their mind, body and soul!! Gracias Emanuel Church!

Happy Mother’s Day to Mothers and Grandmothers! All PEP Moms and grandmothers are invited for a Mother’s Day Breakfast Celebration on Friday, May 11th …this is PEP’s way of honoring moms and grandmothers! Come have breakfast with your child(ren) and is served anytime from 7 to 8 am. Be sure to RSVP at the PEP front desk!

‘Nature Night Out’ for the Whole Family is Friday, May 18th at Whitnall Park, Picnic Area #8 from 5:30 to 8pm. All PEP families are welcome to join the family fun night sponsored by Emanuel Church. We will be grilling out, playing games and teams will participate in a scavenger hunt. Please be sure to RSVP at the PEP front desk. You don’t want to miss it!

Do you need balance in your life? Consider coming to the LIFE Balance Workshop sponsored here on-site in Kurth Hall by Emanuel Church on Sunday, May 20th from 11 to 1:30pm. LIFE is the acronym for Love, Intelligence, Finance, and Energy; presented by Chad and Shanna Venne. Participants will gain an understanding of the importance in having balance in all 4 categories. Individuals and/ or couples will identify where they need balance and will develop goals to support LIFE balance. A light lunch and child care (limited availability) will be provided.

Thursday, May 24th we celebrate another milestone at Park’s Edge Preschool. The 2018 Park’s Edge Preschool Graduation Ceremony honors the preschoolers entering 5K in the fall of 2018. This is an exciting event for all PEP staff and parents, who have nurtured and encouraged these children from infancy on. Thank you to Emanuel Church and the Good News Group for gifting the PEP preschool graduates with a special gift bag.

Congratulations to all 2018 graduates!

Sincerely,

Ellen M. Kvalheim
