Dear Park’s Edge Preschool Families: “Love and Friendship” is February’s special theme at Park’s Edge Preschool… The United Church of Christ’s Council for Health and Human Service Ministries, (CHHSM) reminds us to love and serve one another, reinforcing Jesus’ message demonstrating servant leadership.

CHHSM and/or Health and Human Service Sunday, January 29, 2017 was celebrated by PEP teachers with ‘blessing of the(ir) hands’. CHHSM ministries serve diverse populations ranging from early childhood programs to senior living communities. Park’s Edge Preschool is a CHHSM Ministry. CHHSM’s Annual Meeting is coming to Milwaukee, March 2 through March 4th! The national meeting’s 2017 theme ‘Our Bold Vision in Word and Deed’ will open with a worship service with Reverend John Dorhauer, here at Emanuel Church on Thursday, March 2nd at 4pm. PEP families are welcome to join us. It’s a very special time of year for everyone to celebrate love and friendship.

The children at Park’s Edge Preschool will be busy making valentines for exchanging with their peers. Special valentine activities are planned in each classroom throughout the week of February 13-17. The preschool children will also be creating extra-special valentines for our friends, the residents at Hales Corners Care Center and Forest Ridge Senior Community. The whole center will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, February 14th with a Valentine’s Day Parade at 10 am. Heart healthy snacks will be prepared for a healthy Valentine’s Day celebration for all to enjoy! You’re welcome to come.

Did you know February is National Dental Health Month? This month children will be treated to a very important presentation on good dental hygiene by Mr. Rick Allen on Wednesday, March 1st. at 10 a.m.—age 2 through age 4 and school-age children at 4pm—watch for details and permission slip. The children will learn about proper dental care and will be bringing a toothbrush to the center to practice brushing their teeth. We are promoting future happy smiles at Park’s Edge Preschool!

Safety comes first at Park’s Edge Preschool! Thursday, January 12, 2017 Park’s Edge Preschool 20 staff updated their CPR/ AED skills at an on-site training. Brian Schulenburg, E.M.T./CEO of PULSES builds confidence in staff about life and death issues. The tools he uses in teaching life-saving techniques are from his vast knowledge and experience of life and death situations. What makes this training unique is the instructor’s quick wit. All Park’s Edge Preschool staff is certified in CPR/ AED and First Aid training until 2019. Thank you to Modern Woodmen for sponsoring our CPR training by paying $10 towards each participant’s training.

Park’s Edge Preschool’s management team, Ellen, Kristin and Rhianna will be attending workshops at the Wisconsin Child Care Administrative Association’s (WCCAA) state-wide conference. This important conference for early childhood professionals overseeing child care programs has been held annually since 1978. WCCAA has been instrumental in driving quality initiatives that have impacted children and families state-wide and nationally. This year the conference is at the Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake February 22-24.

Valentine’s Day gives reason to share God’s simple message with the children we care for… to ‘love one another’. Happy Valentine’s Day!
